Rough preview

Type in the fields to see a preview.

The preview is an approximation, not a pixel-accurate render. Real truncation depends on device, font and placement.

Google counts each Chinese, Japanese or Korean (double-width) character as 2. Source: Google Ads Help: About responsive search ads · checked 2026-10-20

How to use it

  1. Pick the platform and ad format.
  2. Type or paste your copy into each field. For Google headlines and descriptions, put one per line.
  3. Red means over a hard limit (the platform rejects it); amber means over the recommended length (it may be truncated).
  4. Check the rough preview, then confirm in the ad platform's own preview before launch.

Character limits by platform (2026-10-20)

Read on each platform’s own help center or ads guide. “Recommended” means the platform suggests staying under it to avoid truncation; it isn’t enforced.

FAQ

What are the Google Ads headline and description limits?

Responsive search ads allow 3–15 headlines of up to 30 characters each and 2–4 descriptions of up to 90 characters each. Display paths are up to 15 characters. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2.

What is the Facebook ad character limit?

Meta's Ads Guide gives recommended lengths rather than hard limits: for Facebook Feed, primary text 50–150 characters and a 27-character headline; for Stories, 125 and 40; for Instagram Reels, 44 characters of primary text. Text past these may be truncated.

What is the TikTok ad text character limit?

TikTok's spec page says Non-Spark ad captions support a maximum of 100 characters. Captions longer than 4 lines are covered by “See more”, and TikTok suggests 50 characters or fewer for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

What are the LinkedIn ad character limits?

For single image ads: introductory text up to 3,000 characters (150 to avoid truncation), headline up to 200 (70 recommended) and description up to 300 (100 recommended).

How many characters can an X (Twitter) ad have?

Promoted post copy can be up to 280 characters, and each link counts as 23. The website card title can be up to 70 characters, with 50 or fewer recommended to avoid truncation.

How does this counter count characters?

It counts characters the way people see them, so an emoji counts as 1. For Google fields, double-width (CJK) characters count as 2. For X post copy, each URL counts as 23. Platforms may count some emoji differently, so leave a small margin.
